One goal a day keeps the danger away!
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
In this project students aged 13-14 from IES Eduardo Primo Marqués and 2nd Gymnasium of Kavala are asked to get familiarized with the 17 SDC’s and to focus on 8 of them, one for each month of the project. (Nov 2022 – May 2023) They are called to think what they can do to promote the sustainable goals, one different each month, and at the same time to celebrate the unesco international days. (https://www.unesco.org/en/days) They share ideas, texts or practices with their mates and they create 7 collaborative walls, one per month/ international day, in order to gain consciousness on the values behind the 17 SDG’s
At the end (May 2023) they create a digital board game in Genially (https://app.genial.ly/editor/637a459b8460fb0017c63893) using data from UNDP (https://www.undp.org/sustainable-development-goals) and they propose it to their classmates to help them get familiarized with the goals (or they will create 2 different games. Then the Spanish team will play the game created by Greeks and vice-versa.
We can play the games during an online meeting).
Grandparents, the bridge to our future
The family background is the most interesting element to analyze in order to understand the social and cultural input our students have when it comes to education. Hence, presenting their families and the level of education their grandparents have can be the starting point in creating the project where they have to present the past and debate on the future. In order to do so they will use a quest on jobs on how they evolved in the last 30-40 years and how they will develop in the future. The 17 SDGs are going to be used in order to achieve the maximum knowledge regarding them.
Wellbeing events for different generations
Changing time negatively affects intergenerational communication and healthy life. With this project, we want to give our students the ability to plan activities that will bring the elderly and children together in common healthy life activities. We enable them to plan a different joint activity every month.
We aim to raise awareness of healthy life and intergenerational cooperation in students, to plan activities that will bring different generations together, and to encourage them to produce creative ideas in this direction.
