MAINZ AND VALENCIA: MORE THAN TWIN TOWNS
DURATION OF THE PROJECT: 24 months from 1/9/2019
PARTICIPATING INSTITUTIONS:
Anna Seghers IGS Institute, Mainz (Germany)
Abastos Secondary School, Valencia (Spain)
OBJECTIVES:
+Language teaching and learning.
+To know the European cultural heritage.
+Acquisition and development of basic skills.
HOW IS THE PROJECT PLANNED?
+ 4 mobilities:
– C1: January 2020. Stay in Valencia for German students.
– C2: September 2020. Stay in Valencia for German students.
– C3: March 2020. Spanish students’ stay in Germany.
– C4: March 2021. Spanish students’ stay in Germany.
+ Activities among the mobilities: writing of texts related to the project, dissemination of these texts and communication with German students.
PARTICIPATING STUDENTS
+ German participants: students who have chosen Spanish as a zero level course in the upper level. Age 15-21 years.
+ Spanish participants:
1st mobility: students who have done the exchange with Mainz last year.
Rest of mobilities: students from 1st year of high school willing to carry out the activities between mobilities, rewarding the commitment and effort.
ACTIVITIES DURING STAYS IN SPAIN (C1, C2)
+ Welcoming of German students by Spanish families:
-Reception in the town hall/conferences on tourism
-Attendance to classes at the host institute
-Training day in a local company
-Visits to museums (City of Arts and Sciences)/sports activities
-Visit an important city.
-Leisure activities with the family: cinema, family celebrations…
C1: 14 students + 2 teachers
C2: 15 students + 2 teachers
ACTIVITIES DURING STAYS IN GERMANY (C3, C4)
+ Welcoming of Spanish students by German families:
-Reception in the town hall/conferences on tourism
-Attendance of classes at the host institute
-Training day in a local company
-Visit museums (Gothenburg) / sports activities (Mainz Stadium)
-visit an important city: Frankfurt or Heidelberg…
-Leisure activities with the family: cinema, family celebrations…
C3: 14 students + 2 teachers
C4: 15 students + 2 teachers
ACTIVITIES AMONG THE MOBILITIES
The students commit themselves to:
1- Produce written texts that will be uploaded to an online platform (e-twinning) guided by a teacher.
2- To write a diary of the daily activities in the mobilities that will be disseminated and evaluated.
3- Contacting foreign pupils.
4- To carry out an evaluation of the knowledge of the culture of the other country by means of an evaluation sheet.
5- Evaluate the activities.
