VET teachers connected through the IoT

On 11 May, the 1st Conference on the Internet of Things (IoT) for VET teachers took place in Distrito Digital, organised by CIDA.

The main objective of the conference was to promote the exchange of experiences and establish synergies between teachers and companies in the sector.

It was attended by 120 vocational training teachers from 12 professional families, and from more than 30 schools in the three provinces. The aim was to raise awareness of new trends in the Internet of Things (IoT), through the companies, of which a total of 15 participated, and the schools themselves, so that teachers and students can expand their knowledge and digital skills.

There was an adjoining area with stands where 7 educational centres and 6 companies showed the application of IoT technology, through models and various exhibitions. There was also a networking area, where attendees were able to expand information, resolve doubts and create or update contacts.

It was a very rewarding and motivating experience that we hope to repeat in new editions with greater participation, if possible.

COMPANY TALKS:

CASE STUDIES IN CENTRES:

A great job that we are sure to repeat in future editions, increasing the number of participants at both educational and professional level, which demonstrates the enormous talent found in our Vocational Training.

At the end of the event, a satisfaction survey was carried out among the participating teachers with very positive results that encourage us to repeat the experience.

18th and 19th of may: Experience VET

On May 18 and 19, the Viu l’FP (Experience VET) Fair will be held in Elche in the Plaza del Centro de Congresos de Elche.

Its goal is to show the wide range of educational offerings of all the public VET schools in the province of Alicante.

Teachers and students from different training programs will present, in a collaborative way, different projects that are developed in the classrooms as well as promote and encourage Vocational Training globally to bring it closer to society.

There will be a variety of activities such as: simulations, VR, culinary elaboration workshops, fashion show, accident simulation of multiple victims, drone flights, samples of floral ornamentation, environmental and health practices, DJ sessions and an extensive program.

There will be two days of meeting, collaboration and advice to make VET truly an option for the future and present, in short: VET the first option

We look forward to seeing you in Elche!

MICROALGAE Project

The Microalgae Project is a collaborative network generated by the teachers’ interested in the cultivation of microalgae, their uses and how to adapt this challenge in the classroom, using active methodologies and introducing digital technologies in the process. The idea comes from the pioneering centre IES DR. Peset Aleixandre, with six more schools joining as:

  • IES Virgen del Remedio (Alicante)
  • CIPFP Batoi (Alcoi)
  • IES La Melva (Elda)
  • IES Gonzalo Anaya (Xirivella)
  • CIPFP Blasco Ibánez (Valencia)
  • IES Alto Palancia (Segorbe)

This project involves Vocational Training teachers from the Chemistry, Safety and Environment, Health, Computer Systems and Applications and Agriculture families, as well as secondary school teachers specialising in Physics and Chemistry and Technology.
They are working on the design and manufacture of an automated microalgae cultivation plant, looking for different applications such as water purification, the manufacture of a nutritional supplement or incorporation into a cosmetic product.
It is a multidisciplinary project where all the teaching staff contribute their vision of the challenge and work on it in the classroom, through challenge-based learning.

On 20 November, a conference was organised between IES Dr. Peset Aleixandre and the Advanced Digital Innovation Centre (CIDA), in which the participants of the collaborative network had talks from colleagues about the cultivation of microalgae and its digitalisation. At the end of the day, they participated in a talk and workshop given by AINIA Technology Centre.

IoT Course

During this month of January and February, is being carried out a IoT course for teachers of Vocational Training of different professional families, organized by Advanced Digital Innovation Centre (CIDA) and Cefire of Alcoi. Through the course, teachers will work in a practical way the use of sensors, data collection and data management in the cloud. It is carried out through a basic kit that has been distributed to the centres.

Currently, 31 centres in the Valencian Community are participating, 20 different Professional Families, with a total of approximately 100 teachers.

The main objectives of the course are: to bring this type of technology to the classroom, through challenges, working with active methodologies, as well as to promote interdisciplinary projects between Professional Families and Centres on this subject.

This Saturday, 22 January, we held the first face-to-face classroom session, divided into two headquarters, Alicante and Valencia, where the teaching staff carried the practices and solved their doubts.
