DAY 1 (Feb. 12th)
On Thursday we arrived at the airport of Oulu at 20:00p.m. After two long flights from Alicante-Helsinki and Helsinki-Oulu, the Finnish host families picked up the Spanish students. We did tours around the houses, ate an evening snack and went to bed.
DAY 2 (Feb. 13th)
On Friday we went to Liminka’s High School at 8:45. There, we got introduced to the project and got to know better our international partners. We spent the morning designing a logo for the mobility and listening to some presentations made by the Finnish students about their culture and interesting facts about Finland.
We had lunch at the school canteen at 11 a.m. and headed to Heikki Sarvela Hall to watch a music performance by some talented students from the school. Lastly, we did team-building activities organized by older students to get familiar with one another.
In the afternoon, the Spanish students spent some time with their hosts and walked around the town. In the evening we all met at someone’s house and had dinner together. Then, we went home and went to sleep after a long day of activities.
DAY 3 (Feb. 14th)
At the weekend, we all didplenty of different activitiesin the morning, such as cross-country skiing, sledding, some of thestudents even went to Sweden…
In the afternoon, we all went together to Zeppelin mall and had dinner together at one of the student’s house.
DAY 4 (Feb. 15th)
We all went to a special place in Oulu called “Nallikaris Winter Willage” were we saw magical ice statues and a raindeers. It was a very fun experience and it was really nice to walk around the little village. Also, after this adventure most of us went to sauna to relax because it had been a very cold day.
DAY 5 (Feb. 16th)
On Monday we visited the local church, Liminka church, where we learnt about volunteer work and the history of the church. We also enjoyed an active involvement, where we explored the inside of the church. After having lunch, Spanish students had a lesson of Finnish language with Anna-Maria. We learnt some useful worlds! After reuniting with our partners we played a popular Finnish sport: floor ball. After all this, our school time finished and we shared our free time at Avara. We had time to play games and get to know each other.
DAY 6 (Feb. 17th)
On Tuesday, we met at the school cafeteria and then we took a bus to Rantakylä. We sled through a hill for a couple of hours and then we made a campfire and ate grilled sausages and marshmallows. After that, we went back to school, had lunch and rested for a while. Later, we went to volunteer at a care home where we took a walk with the elderly people with memory issues like dementia or Alzheimer. The last activity of the day was cooking and baking Finnish typical food at the school and enjoying the dinner together. As it was a long day, we went home to rest with our hosts.
DAY 7 (Feb. 18th)
On Wednesday, we met at school and spent a few hours working on the project. Each group had different projects with different topics, for instance, there were projects about the different sports of Spain and Finland or about the importance of volunteering.
After two hours of hard work, we presented our projects to the rest of our partners, and we took a bus to Oulu. When we arrived in the small city, we took a walk along the frozen Oulujoki river and through Ainola Park. After this, we went bowling all together and we had so much fun.
When we had finished all our school activities, we were finally in our free time. Since we were in the center of Oulu, we decided to have lunch in a mall and go shopping. Then, we went to the house of a Finnish student and we spent all afternoon playing games and eating pancakes.
DAY 8 (Feb. 19th)
We met at highschool at 3.30 am and said goodbye to our hosts. Then, we took a bus to Oulu and arrived to the airport.
During the day, we took two flights and arrived to Alicante at 12.30.
