IES Abastos is participating as a partner in the CONSTIC project, which aims to apply virtual and augmented reality to construction education and develop innovative teaching resources for vocational training programs related to natural stone, interior design, and ICT specializations. The school is contributing particularly through its Specialization Course in Video Game and Virtual Reality Development, involving its faculty and students in the design of multimedia materials (animations, video games, and VR/AR environments). This participation has strengthened the digital skills of both teachers and students, as well as connecting technological content with evolving production sectors.
The collaboration is structured with IES Ribeira do Louro (coordinator), IES Dr. Lluís Simarro, and the company AtinServices, which contributes its expertise in creating multimedia teaching materials. The project also includes a specific strategy to promote the inclusion of women in the ICT and construction sectors through outreach campaigns, the inclusion of female role models in the materials, and awareness-raising activities. Thanks to this collaboration, IES Abastos reinforces its role as an innovative hub in the Big Data and AI subsector, providing cutting-edge educational solutions and contributing to gender equality in STEAM sectors with low female representation. For IES Abastos, participation in CONSTIC has strengthened the skills of its students and teachers in virtual and augmented reality, connecting vocational training with transforming productive sectors and contributing to gender equality in STEAM fields.
