Hi! My name is Àgueda, and I am a student of Hairstyling and Salon Management at IES
Salvador Gadea in Spain. Currently, I am doing an internship in a company in Msida, Malta,
thanks to an Erasmus scholarship.
I am working in a well-known hair salon here in Malta. My tasks include washing, cutting, and styling hair, as well as providing customer service and assisting other stylists. We have two days of internal training each week, where we learn the specific techniques and standards of the salon, which is like attending an academy.
Don’t worry if you don’t have experience in hairdressing, because the salon will provide you with specific training to improve your skills, and if you have experience they will give you a lot of great opportunities to grow professionally. I had my own column in the schedule by the second week after starting!
Other opportunities I had included going with the salon manager to assist her in many weddings and going to the set of Love Island Malta to style a contestant’s hair.
Msida, where I work, is a vibrant town with a lot to offer. I live in Paola, which is nearby and
full of charm. I’ve also had the chance to explore many beautiful places in Malta, like Rabat,
Mdina, Gozo, the Blue Lagoon, and Valletta. The beaches here are incredible too!
I highly encourage other students to apply for an Erasmus scholarship for internships
abroad. Whether you have experience in your field or are a recent graduate, this experience
is invaluable. You get hands-on training, improve your skills, and immerse yourself in a new
culture. Plus, you get to see amazing places and meet wonderful people.
So, don’t hesitate—apply for an Erasmus scholarship and take your learning to the next

Hola, me llamo Àgueda y soy estudiante de Estilismo y Dirección de Peluquería en el IES
Salvador Gadea. Actualmente estoy haciendo prácticas en una empresa en Msida, Malta,
gracias a una beca Erasmus.
Estoy trabajando en un salon de peluquería muy conocido aquí en Malta. Me dedico a
lavar, cortar y peinar el cabello, además de atender a los clientes y ayudar a otros estilistas. Cada semana tenemos dos días de formación interna en los que aprendemos las técnicas y normas específicas de la peluquería, es decir, recibo formación como si asistiera a una academia.
No te preocupes si no tienes experiencia en peluquería, porque el salón te proporcionará
formación específica para mejorar tus habilidades y si tienes experiencia, te darán muchas
oportunidades para crecer profesionalmente. Por ejemplo, yo tenía mi propia columna en la agenda a la segunda semana de empezar.
Durante mi estancia también tuve la oportunidad de ayudar a la directora del salón en muchas bodas e incluso ir al plató del reality Love Island Malta para peinar a una concursante.
Msida, donde trabajo, es una ciudad vibrante con mucho que ofrecer. Vivo en Paola, que está cerca y llena de encanto. También he podido visitar muchos lugares preciosos de Malta como Rabat, Mdina, Gozo, la Laguna Azul y La Valeta. Las playas de aquí también son increíbles.
Animo a otros estudiantes a que soliciten una beca Erasmus para hacer prácticas en el extranjero. Tanto si tienes experiencia en tu campo como si acabas de graduarte, esta experiencia tiene un valor incalculable. Obtienes formación práctica, mejoras tus habilidades y te sumerges en una nueva cultura. Además, verás lugares increíbles y conocerás a gente maravillosa. No lo dudes, solicita una beca Erasmus y lleva tu aprendizaje al siguiente nivel.
