The IES Benigasló has carried out a stay in Berlin between 27 May and 2 June as part of the Erasmus+ programme, in the Jobshadowing modality, with the aim of training teachers in the line of education in democratic values.
The teachers who participated in this project were Alejandro Forner, History teacher and coordinator of the Democratic Memory Group at Benigasló, and Carmen García, Art teacher and member of the aforementioned group.
The host centre was the Friedensburg Oberschule, one of the city’s benchmark centres for being one of the European schools that work with students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
Nadia Salimbeni was the teacher in charge of hosting our colleagues and organising the activities carried out during the week, which covered different levels and subjects.
We have had the opportunity to see how democratic values are worked on in an interdisciplinary way from Year 9 to Year 13, in a society that has suffered a traumatic past and has been able to grow to the point of reflecting on what democracy is and why it is important to defend it.
