BRITISH OR SPANISH EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM?

A typical school day in Britain is very different. Here in Spain, school begins at 8:00 am meanwhile school begins at 9:00 am in Britain. The teacher blows a whistle and the children line up in their class groups and then they wait quietly for the teacher to send them to their classrooms. At 9:10 they go to the assembly. There, they sing songs, listen to a story and pray. Students have their lunch break from 12.15 to 1.15 p.m and children may have a school meal or bring a packed lunch which is priced at  about 1.60 pounds. It usually finishes at three o’clock in the afternoon. In addition most schools in England make children wear school uniforms.

Regarding extra-curricular activities, they play a very important role in pupils’ life. Schools offer a variety of clubs for students to join and enjoy. For example, many of the students learn a musical instrument after school or some others join different sport clubs such as cricket or football.

Apart from this, the British educational system is different from our educational system in Spain. They start their academic life when they are 4 and they go on studying until they are 18. Their holidays are different too. They have thirteen free weeks per year and they are divided in six periods, these periods are: one week in October, two weeks in December, one week in February, two weeks in March, one week in May and six weeks for summer holidays.

All in all,  studying in Britain is different from studying in Spain. What do you think? Would you like to be a British student or do you prefer the Spanish educational system?
