IES La Foia d’Elx takes part in the Physical Activity, Sport and Health Project (PEAFS) with the aim of encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle among our students. We understand this not only as the practice of physical activity and sport, but also as an opportunity to promote values, foster positive relationships and build a more inclusive, supportive educational community that is committed to its surroundings.
Our project, “Sport Without Labels”, builds on the work carried out over the past few years and is based on a fundamental idea: sport is for everyone. We therefore aim to make physical activity accessible and meaningful for all students, regardless of their level of physical ability, while contributing to their physical, emotional and social well-being.
Throughout the school year, we organise activities both inside and outside the school that combine sport, health, recreation, inclusion, equality, solidarity and respect for the environment. Active Breaks, school sports teams, cultural and sports events, outdoor activities, hiking and cycling routes, water and winter sports, climbing, road safety education, first aid, healthy eating initiatives and solidarity projects are some of the activities included in the project.
The PEAFS also allows us to open the school to its local community and establish partnerships with sports organisations, institutions and local associations. In this way, students have the opportunity to discover and practise different sports and to explore the possibilities offered by our town and its natural surroundings.
Through these activities, we aim to help students gradually develop healthy and active lifestyles, while also learning to cooperate, respect others, participate, care for the environment and understand sport as a tool for coexistence, equality and inclusion.
“Sport Without Labels” is, ultimately, a commitment to physical activity that is open to everyone and to an education that understands health and well-being as a shared responsibility.
