COMMUNICATION AND EMPHATY for STRENGTHENING LINKS to SCHOOL
This is the name of the course in the third Erasmus+ mobility of the KA101-E660048E project centre for
teachers on 20th-24th June 2022.
I contacted the organising company Sherlock through the list of courses of
https://www.schooleducationgateway.eu/ with Ahmet SAHIN, the coordinator in Berlin of the
European level courses (sherlockedu.de).
The course was in the beautiful city of Budapest, Hungary, taught by the trainer Judith Dunai, who’s graduated
in Economics and Psychology.
I was attending the classes that dealt with:
review of basic elements of communication, 7 emotions basics and recognition of Paul Ekman and microcues,
relaxation/setup techniques and introduction to participation, physical position and psychological denotation.
Judith explains the meaning of resistance, the phenomenon by which the student stops studying and
learn in class, I take a test on behaviour towards students with the result “development
with some fixed ideas”, we talked about Carol Dweck’s video on Mindset after
visualise it and about Myelination, about group work and how to structure the steps (steps or
freestyle working) and on specific messages to motivate students, assertiveness using the
next steps: feelings/behaviours/effects/needs. We made role-playing about conflictive cases in class and ways
to deal with them assertively, phrases negative and how to reframe them to become positive, bullying,
empathy, strategies, active listening, speech ventilation, invalidation, self-regulation, narcissistic and
manipulative people, positions in life, Erick Berne communications transactions, ego states, Games
People Play, phrase recognition exercises according to positioning (parents, adults or children),
communication styles (assertive, passive, aggressive), more role-playing exercises about stiles, sandwich
technique (complied+bad news+complied/desire for improvement), Johari’s window for self-knowledge a
through others, summary and self-assessment of the course (strengths learned, knowledge about oneself, 1
thing I will do differently tomorrow).
Finally I did a course evaluation via google form and delivery of certificate.
In my opinion, Erasmus programs are a great opportunity to find out what and how it is being done in other
European countries, and also to get to know new cultures and new places.
