Friday
My day started with breakfast, and then I went to the train station. There, we all said goodbye with many hugs and some crying, because this week has been amazing. After that, we took a bus to the airport, where we had lunch, and at 4:20 PM, we took off to Spain. We arrived around 6:30 PM, and our parents came to pick us up to go home.
My Thursday began by going on the train from Kampen to Zwolle and from the station we rode a bike to the city center where we met with all of the exchange students. We did an activity that consisted in walking through 8 bridges and doing a mathematical problem with the year they were constructed. They also gave us 30 euros for each group so we could buy a present for 10 people.
We had lunch all together in a buffet and after we went for a walk in Zwolle. Around 4 pm, my host and I went back home and had dinner.
At night we went to school and they started to present the workshops and also each country. We did the Macarena and everyone joined. Finally, we said goodbye to some people and went home.
Wednesday
We went to school by bike. Then we started with our workshops. I did dance, we learnt all the choreography and we had lunch. Before 3pm we finished and I went home by my bike. Then a classmate picked me and my host up by car to go to another house for dinner with other Spanish and Dutch students. We prepared some pizzas and we ate them. Finally, we went home and slept.
Tuesday:
My day started with breakfast and taking the bike to go to high school. We took a bus to get to a factory where they explained us the problem of the rising sea level in the low countries. Then we took the bus to a forest and we did some activities, divided in 12 groups. The last stop was in the village of Kampen where they gave us free time and in my case I took advantage of it to go and see the village. Finally, we went to school and took the bikes to go home, have dinner with the family and go to sleep.
MONDAY
On Monday we went to the countryside by bike to do a sports workshop. There we did lots of activities such as running, kayak and riding a kind of scooter. We made three teams and then we divided those groups to make the competiton funnier. We were fighting to see which group could catch more checkpoints. The checkpoints were a type of stamps and they had a different sign between them. The team that has more of them won.
In the afternoon, a group of people and me went to the center to go shopping and later we went home to play pool and table football.
SATURDAY
Today we had our first day of school and we met people from other countries and made new friends. They explained us what we would do this week and each group introduced it’s country. They gave us puppets with magnets that stick together. We had lunch and after it we played some old traditional dutch games like ‘sjoelen’ and we played a game in the gym where we couldn’t touch the floor. Then, we had to build bridges with spaghetti and marshmallows. After that, we walked to the city, visited a book shop and explored Zwolle. Finally, we went back to our host home.
Today was the day to leave Berlin and go to Zwolle. It was planned to leave at 9:45 and arrive at 17:45, but there were some problems. The first train was a bit delayed to reach the station where we had to wait 30 minutes for the next train. This one got delayed, and we had to wait about an hour. When we managed to board the train, it didn’t have a locomotive. When we finally got in, after an hour to reach the third train, the train stopped, and we weren’t calm because we thought we couldn’t take the third train. But when we arrived at the third train, it was just arriving, and we managed to board. Finally, at 18:30, we arrived in Zwolle to meet the families.
This morning, we woke up early to go to the Reichstag. There, we got a free audio guide. When we finished, we went to the Holocaust memorial, which is like tombs that represent the Jewish people who died in the Holocaust. On our way to the TV Tower, we saw a car in a Volkswagen shop, but when we went in, we realized it was a museum. It was great!
Then, we visited a square where the Nazis burnt thousands of books and various cathedrals. Afterwards, we had some free time to eat and walk around. After that, we took a 3-hour tour with a Spanish guide who explained the entire history of Berlin and told us interesting stories.
Finally, we walk to see the paintings on the Berlin Wall and returned to the hostel.
Hello everyone! We are some students that are doing an exchange trip to the Netherlands because they came to visit us last May, but now we are in Berlin, because we went by plane from Castelló to Berlin. Today we went to the Jewish Museum and then we went to the famous Check Point Charlie. Finally, we hung out together in the city center.
