The unmistakable scent of school supplies, paper, and books has filled the school throughout the summer. Alongside it, the sounds of those who—while the school seemed asleep—were busy preparing every corner to ensure everything was ready: our support staff and the occasional teacher, surrounded by books, lists, and a thousand small details.
And this week, the school wakes up once more.
The boxes, the posters, and the bustle of the opening days are back. Moms and dads are returning to fill out forms, and—above all—the voices, the running, and the laughter of our children are arriving. Some will walk through our doors for the first time; others will return with the joy of those who enjoyed their holidays but were eager to reunite with their classmates.
The school year will be whatever we all choose to make it. It is in our hands—students, teachers, and families—to turn these months into a journey worth remembering. To do that, we must roll up our sleeves, work hard, and, above all, pull together.
Let us be generous with our time, our words, and our effort. Let us remember that arriving together is more important than arriving first, and that when we row in the same direction, we can go much further.
Let us also remember that nothing that happens at school is so serious that it cannot be resolved through dialogue.
Let us try to ensure that the person next to us, our neighbor, or the family we pass every morning on the way to school takes away a little bit of joy from having met us. May our words build others up, may our actions offer support, and may everyone who is part of this community feel that they belong here.
