🎨 This April and May we’ve discovered Henri Matisse, the French artist who revolutionized art with his vibrant colors, simple shapes, and contagious joy.
Since we had very few classes in April due to the Easter holidays, we decided to spend more time in May calmly exploring his work and creative process.
✂️ What inspired us most was his final artistic stage, when, due to health issues, he stopped painting with a brush and began creating art with scissors and colored paper, giving birth to his famous “cut-out paintings.” We loved seeing how with simple tools like scissors and glue, you can still create expressive, dynamic, and colorful artworks.
🌊 We also took the chance to start our ocean project, which will accompany us until the end of the school year. We’ve drawn inspiration from Matisse’s organic shapes and Mediterranean colors to begin imagining the seabed, waves, seaweed, and marine creatures we’ll be creating throughout May and June.
With Matisse, we’ve learned that art can also be play, intuition, and emotion, and that limitations can open the door to unexpected creative paths.
💙✂️🔵 Stay tuned — the sea is calling!
