💜 This month we’ve discovered Georgia O’Keeffe, one of the most important artists of the 20th century and a pioneer of modern art in the United States.
🌼🌷 Georgia is known for her giant flower paintings, which she painted with such detail it felt like we were looking at them through a magnifying glass. Her goal was to make us look slowly and attentively, to find beauty in the small things that often go unnoticed. She also painted desert landscapes from New Mexico, where she lived for many years, using intense colors and soft shapes that convey calm, strength, and silence.
🏔️🌺 What inspired us most about O’Keeffe is her personal way of seeing: she didn’t paint what she saw, but what she felt when looking. She taught us that art can help express emotions and connect with nature in a different way.
🌻🪻 Since it’s spring, in class we’ve observed and drawn all kinds of flowers: daisies, wildflowers, dandelions, olive branches… We experimented with color, magnification, and organic shapes, creating our own works inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s unique style. 🌸
