Erasmus+ is the EU's Programme to support education, training, youth, and sport in Europe. For the period 2021-2027, it has an overall indicative financial envelope of more than 26 billion EUR from the EU budget for the seven years. This amount shows the European Union's commitment to investing in education, training, youth and sport.
This Programme, which has been renewed, funds learning-related mobility and cross-border cooperation projects for 10 million Europeans of all ages and backgrounds. It seeks to be even more inclusive and to support the ecological and digital transitions, as set out in the European Education Area. Erasmus+ also supports the resilience of education and training systems in the face of the pandemic. It also aims to facilitate exchange, cooperation and mobility between education and training systems in participating countries. The Programme provides opportunities for millions of Europeans to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad.
It is designed to support countries' efforts to make efficient use of Europe's human and social capital potential, while confirming the principle of lifelong learning and linking support for formal, non-formal and informal learning in the fields of education, training, and youth.
The Erasmus+ 2021-2027 Programme offers opportunities for periods of study abroad, traineeships, professional development programmes and staff exchanges in all fields of education, training, youth, and sport. It is open to school pupils, students in higher education and vocational education and training, adult learners, youth exchanges, youth workers and sports coaches.
