The activity began with a welcome session at the central headquarters of the IGEC, where the conceptual framework, criteria, and functioning of the Avaliação Externa das Escolas process were presented. This process is considered one of the key tools for continuous improvement within the Portuguese education system. During this first session, the inspectors from the Valencian Community received a detailed presentation on the evaluation reference areas, the information-gathering procedures, and the role of the educational community in the process.

They also learned first-hand about the organisation and functioning of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Alapraia and were able to accompany their Portuguese counterparts in various day-to-day activities. These included participating in interviews with different pedagogical coordination bodies, observing classroom sessions, visiting the various educational levels within the school cluster, and taking part in internal analysis meetings. They also carried out direct observation of organisational dynamics and teaching practices.

This job-shadowing experience has provided a valuable opportunity for the inspectors to broaden their professional perspective and deepen their understanding of evaluation and supervision models applied in other education systems. In this way, the Erasmus+ mobility continues to promote the exchange of good practices and contributes to strengthening quality and the continuous improvement of the actions carried out by the Educational Inspectorate.
