From the 3rd to the 9th of May, a group of 39 Year 9 students took part in an enriching language immersion programme in Cirencester, a picturesque town in the southwest of England with a rich historical heritage. This educational experience allowed students to immerse themselves in the English language and British culture in a direct and meaningful way.
During their stay, the students were hosted by local families, providing them with a valuable opportunity to practise English in a day-to-day environment and experience British culture authentically. Additionally, they attended daily communicative English lessons, where, through games, dynamic activities, and practical workshops, they strengthened their oral skills and built confidence in using the language.
The afternoons were dedicated to a wide range of cultural activities. They participated in tours and treasure hunts around Cirencester, helping them discover the city’s most significant historical aspects in an engaging and interactive way. They also had the chance to visit two of the country’s most iconic cities: Oxford, renowned for its prestigious university atmosphere, and London, where they enjoyed a guided tour of the main landmarks and attractions.
This experience has been an inavaluable educational tool, promoting students’ independence, intercultural competence, and language learning in real-life contexts. Beyond the classroom, they have learned to navigate new situations, appreciate different ways of life, and collaborate as a team with an open and global mindset.
