Public Adult Education Centre of Torrent
The main objective of the Torrent Public Adult Education Centre, founded in 1985, is to offer a second educational opportunity to all those people who, for various reasons, were unable to complete their education during compulsory schooling. This centre provides citizens with access to quality basic training and new educational levels, while promoting the development of communication skills, improving employability, coexistence and active participation in the cultural, social and economic spheres of society.
The Torrent Adult School is consolidated as an inclusive and integrating space, designed to eliminate barriers and offer second chances. It is a fundamental point of support for people at risk of social or labour exclusion, as well as for the migrant and foreign population, which represents a significant part of the diversity of the town. In addition, the centre caters for the needs of another part of the adult population with academic, cultural and training concerns, offering educational itineraries that respond to a variety of interests and contribute to personal and professional growth.
This school is more than a place of education; it is a bridge that connects people with opportunities, awakening intellectual curiosity and the capacity for critical reflection to actively participate in society. As Malala Yousafzai, 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and symbol of the struggle for equitable education, said:
‘Education is neither Eastern nor Western; education is education, and it is the right of every human being.’
