8th MARCH WOMEN’S DAY

On March 8th, International Women’s Day, our school holds various activities as part of the Equality and Coexistence Plan to reflect on the role of women in society, highlight their contributions in all areas, and advocate for real equality between women and men. A day to share, learn, and keep moving forward toward a fairer and more equal society.

The EPA of Torrent will commemorate International Women’s Day with a series of activities to reflect on and highlight the role of women in society. Among the planned activities, we highlight:

📌 We present this commemorative video, in which we’ve selected a few Valencian women from different time periods and fields. Click on the image to watch the video.

📌 Poster titled “The Women in My Life”, where students from all groups and levels have written about a woman who has played an important role in their lives, supporting them in a positive and meaningful way.

📌 Classroom activities such as text reading, written expression and comprehension exercises, informational posters, drawings, and projects about important women in history.

NOVEMBER 25th INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The Equality and Coexistence Commission of the Adult Education Center of Torrent organizes various activities to help eradicate gender-based violence, such as creating awareness posters and developing “femiglossaries” with terms of Anglo-Saxon origin and newly coined words that highlight often normalized gender inequalities. These glossaries are available in Valencian, Spanish, English, French, and Romanian. The femiglossaries are designed as books with an index listing all the terms and pages where each word’s definition appears. Each page is illustrated with an image. On pages where there is a blinking image, it indicates that if you click on it, the image will enlarge for better viewing.

The Valencian version also includes the game Obrim portes cap a la igualtat while the English version features a video in which the terms are explained and pronounced by Ruchika Kilaparthi, an American and former language assistant at the school.

In addition, in collaboration with the Casa de la Dona of Torrent, talks and conferences are held, along with other initiatives.

The Escola d’Adults de Torrent took part in the activities organised to mark 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Throughout the week, a collaborative mural featuring butterflies was created, where students shared messages rejecting gender-based violence in different languages, including Spanish, Valencian, English and Ukrainian.
In addition, posters with butterflies displayed the names of women and victims of vicarious violence who have been murdered in this year.

With the collaboration of the Casa de la Dona de Torrent, workshops on conflict resolution in relationships were also delivered to ESPA students in modules I and III.
