WEAVING BRIDGES

Many of our boys and participated in the activity organized by the municipal library titled “Weaving bridges” and had conversations with their grandparents in which they asked them to tell them a story from when they were little or a moment they had shared together.

We have read all the stories and they are beautiful. They are stories full of emotion and good feelings, from inventor grandparents and grandmothers who jump into the pool with a flamingo float, to grandmothers who don’t know how to swim but still help their grandchildren learn to do it.

In their conversations, grandparents told them how they lived years ago, the things they did, how they had fun… It is impossible to summarize here the tenderness and affection that is transmitted in all their stories. How nice to be able to share quality time with our grandparents!

We have read about grandparents who built slingshots, who herded sheep, who learned to sew in the military or who were so poor that they couldn’t eat every day. We have read about grandmothers who played soccer and climbed palm trees; Grandparents who don’t know when they were born because at that time there were more important things to remember; Grandparents who take us on trips, who prepare our snacks, who hug us and kiss us. Grandmothers who gave birth at home, grandparents who live far away and whom we see little, grandparents who write poetry, who tell stories, who take care of chickens. Grandmothers who did not go to school, who emigrated to France, to Germany… who immigrated to Spain from Morocco, Ecuador, Colombia… Grandmothers who dreamed of joining the circus and wearing sequined suits, grandfathers who were waiters, farmers, mechanics and who were proud of the work they did… grandfathers and grandmothers who were once little and whose stories we should remember more frequently.

We always say that you have to turn off your cell phone and turn on a book. Today we tell you to turn off your cell phone and turn on the smile and stories of our grandparents.

Thank you very much for sharing all that with us.
