OBESITY

March 1st is World Obesity Day. According to the World Health Organization, rates of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents increased four times worldwide between 1975 and 2016.

“The most important single factor is “the example of partents”, their ability to promote a healthy lifestyle and recognize the weight problem in their son or daughter, but 70% do not detect that their children suffer from overweight.”

Many of the causes of overweight and obesity are preventable and reversible. It is essential to reduce the fats and sugars consumed and increase the intake of fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains. Likewise, it is necessary to practice some type of physical activity for at least 60 minutes a day.

Turn off your cell phone and go outside to walk, run and play.
