On Friday we celebrated Halloween at school and we took the opportunity to talk about the things that scare us and how we can face them. We also talked about how the various religions and cultures have dealt with the issue of death and remembering and respecting the people who are no longer here.
Death is not something that will only happen to a few unfortunates: my cat is going to die; my parents are going to die and I am going to die. You are going to die too… but the important thing is what we do while we are alive: the people we help, the things we can improve… let’s live a life that is worth living so that when we are gone people will smile when they think about us.
Talking about death at home, in a language that children can understand, just like talking about sex or drugs, is the best way to prevent them from becoming taboo topics that they will not dare to ask you about. If they don’t talk to you about these issues when they have doubts, the internet will.
Do not let the web be the only one to educate your children. Go ahead, and if you need help, we’re here for you.
By the way! Our parent association was once again in charge of organizing and directing this celebration in addition to providing the prizes that consisted of terrifying books and stories to continue encouraging our students to read. Here you can take a look at the list of prizes in case you need ideas for a gift or want to read them at home.
