Hello, visitor!
If you have come this far, it is undoubtedly because you are interested in learning more about our school, “Playas de Orihuela”.
But first, let´s start with some curiosities;
ORIHUELA, the municipal term in which we find ourselves, is one of the few municipalities that has the 5 vowels in its name (A,E,I,O,U). It shares this “honour” with another Orihuela, surnamed del Tremedal, in Aragon.
Although our school is called “Playas de Orihuela” and is in Orihuela Costa, don’t think that you could easily visit the famous historical city by taking a walk from here… the beautiful capital of the area, the city of Orihuela, is about 35 kilometres from us!

By the way, Orihuela Costa is the penultimate town that you will find following the coastline of the Valencian Community to the south. It is limited to the north by Torrevieja, and to the south by Pilar de la Horadada. This makes our school also one of the southernmost in the entire Community! By road, 65 km separate us from Alicante, 230 km from Valencia, and… 382 km from Vinaròs, in the extreme north of the Community!
On the other hand, the metonymy of calling the entire coastal area of Orihuela “Dehesa de Campoamor” is common, although strictly “Dehesa” is only a part of the town. Actually, it is something like calling the United Kingdom “England”, “Holland” the Netherlands, or “America” the United States…
And one more curiosity! Orihuela Costa boasts of being the town that has the most blue flags on the entire Mediterranean coast. 11 of these awards have recognized the quality of its 16 km of beaches and coves.

Now, we will focus on our school… cheerful, dynamic and very unique would be three good adjectives to describe it. For children, it means a good opportunity to make friends from all over Europe and other parts of the world.
But in reality, it is also an opportunity to LEARN and GROW, in knowledge and in the important things in life.
Along with knowledge in science, mathematics, art, music or sports, there are two intangible gifts, with an inestimable value, that our school gives to all its students.
For some, the gift is LEARNING the Spanish and Valencian languages, for all those who come from other latitudes, seeking to live under the shine of this Mediterranean sun. And together with the language, it comes a cultural treasure, and a communication tool with 500 million people.
For others, who already know the language, the gift is personal GROWTH, valuing that humankind as a whole forms a great family, and that the strength of the great human family lies in its diversity and variety.
Because the word “AMIGO” can be translated as “friend”, “ami” or “vän” in other languages, but FRIENDSHIP, as a concept, arises magically from running together after a ball, from being part of the same work team in class, or living day to day at school.
And these two are the gifts, of incalculable value, that the “Playas de Orihuela” school has given to all its students for more than 20 years.
“LEARN” and “GROW”. To be prepared for life. To lead the future. To face the present with optimism, motivation and generosity. Because “now is when, Playas de Orihuela is where”.
