WEEK 5:

TASK:

Is Week 5 of the project and time to take action! For this next week, we ask you to take positive action. If you wonder which individual actions you can take, please take a look at our free app EarthProject!

Time for action! Plant a tree (and get your own)

One special action is planting a tree. Did you know the only way to get carbon out of the air (in a sustainable way) is by planting trees? We have been planting trees for the past five years and so far 2,353,905 trees have been planted. Isn’t that amazing! You can see all of the tree plantings on our impact page.

It would be great if you can plant one or a few trees as well. You can record your tree planting at the platform and claim a certificate! And, we have something very exciting – while planting a tree, you can claim a tree which has been planted in another country! Isn’t that cool?! Having a tree at the other side of the world!

How to claim your tree planting certificate?

  1. Visit this page
  2. Scroll to find “Tree Planting” and submit your own tree plantings
  3. Wait for approval
  4. Download your personalised certificate, and claim your own tree in a different country!

TASK PLANNING:

Objective:
In Week 5, our goal was to move from learning to action by taking concrete steps to help our planet. Students reflected on how small actions can have a big impact, and we joined the global initiative to plant trees as part of the Climate Action Project.

Activities:

  • We explored the Earth Project app to learn more about individual and collective actions that contribute to sustainability.
  • Students discussed different ways to take action at school and at home, such as saving energy, reducing waste, and protecting green spaces.
  • Thanks to the collaboration of the Technology Department, students were able to plant a tree in the school garden — a Populus nigra L. (black poplar).
  • We learned that planting trees is one of the most effective ways to capture carbon and support biodiversity.
  • Students also symbolically “claimed” a tree planted in another country, connecting our local action to a global effort.
  • Finally, we recorded our participation on the Climate Action Project platform and downloaded our tree planting certificate.

ACTIVITY RESULT:

Students took real action for the environment and felt part of a global movement of young people committed to building a greener, more sustainable future.
