Dear partners;

in this activity, our students will share their ideas on a collaborative online Pinboard. We will collaboratively choose which online Pinboard we will use for this activity. Please take a look at the poll at the bottom of the page and select which tool you would like to use. The deadline to participate in the poll is October 10.

Dear Partners, this activity consists of 3 steps:
Step 1:Students will watch the YouTube video “What is -WASTE Pollution? | What Causes Electronic Waste?” in the plenary session. They will then conduct research on e-waste, critical raw materials, and e-waste management.

Step 2: Students will discuss how they handle (manage) their e-waste in class and share their ideas.

Step 3:Students will write down their ideas about e-waste management in one sentence on a collaborative Pinboard to share ideas with our project partners. Please have your students share their ideas, under teacher supervision, on the collaborative online pinboard below.

The collaborative online pinboard will be added here once teacher voting is complete.

TASK PLANNING:

We looked for interesting events to celebrate International E-Waste Day on the European platform suggested by our partners, and we took part in one of them. https://circulareconomy.europa.eu/platform/en/news-and-events/all-events/wasteless-project-webinar-series-surplus-stock-measurement-and-management

Then we carried out the activities from the eTwinning platform, but we also wanted to find out what we can do in our town, Vila-real, to recycle e-waste and what facilities our high school has for e-waste collection.

ACTIVITY RESULTS:

The students from Spain talked about how they manage their electronic waste both at home and at school. They exchanged ideas on how to properly reduce, reuse, and recycle electronic devices. Afterwards, they wrote their suggestions on a shared board to collaborate and share ideas with their project partners. My students researched how e-waste is managed in Vila-real and found that it can be taken to the Ecopark and the Mobile Ecopark. At our high school, we collect e-waste in a designated room and then take it to the Ecopark. We also have a special container for used batteries.

Then, our students shared their ideas on a collaborative online Pinboard. They really enjoyed this experience!

We enhanced this activity by adding a videoconference with other high schools. The videoconference schedule is shown below
