On May 5 and 6, we will have the presence of Verónica Llavero Pulido, who has worked with prestigious choreographers and dancers, including Javier Latorre and Eva la Yerbabuena. Verónica will do a flamenco workshop aimed at students of Conservatory Professional de Dansa.
FIL D'ARENA: APRIL - BALLESTER - CRESPO - PLASENCIA
Within the I Cultural Days 2016, next Wednesday, May 11, we will have invited guests from Fil d'Arena: Isabel Abril, Irene Ballester, Clara Crespo and Roseta Plasencia. Isabel and Irene graduated from our center in the specialties of Classical Dance and Contemporary Dance respectively.
Fil d’Arena will give a dance workshop for our 3rd to 6th grade students of professional grade. The workshop is called The Big Dance and is an international socio-cultural initiative for dance, organized from the United Kingdom by the Foundation for Community and the Mayor of London, since 2006. This year it will take place in different cities around the world: in Spain it will take place in Madrid, Donosti and Valencia. It will be held in all cities on the same day and the same choreography on May 20, 2016. Fil d’Arena organizes this activity that is part of the 2016 dance cycle organized by Culturarts.
The choreography has been commissioned to Akram Khan, an English choreographer of Indian origin, on an original music by Nitin Sawhney. Akram has created the choreography for all types of people and levels of dance experience. It is easy to learn and perform, but this choreography transmits sensations and states through the connection with breathing and movements with a large group of very diverse people.
A number of themes and ideas have been explored including:
- Identity, travel and migration.
- The connection, ritual and human spirituality.
- Hope, aspirations and achievements.
Fil d’Arena's proposal is to organize a training day at our center. The members of this company will come on May 11 in order to transmit the choreography to interested students. In addition to learning the movements, a session will be held in which group work will be developed through improvisations, with a vision connected to the work of the choreographer Akram Kham.
From Wednesday the 15th to Friday the 17th of June we will host closing activities of the First Cultural Days of the CPDV. We will have the participation of the professional students of the three specialties who will offer performances and dance workshops for their elementary school mates. We will also be able to enjoy musical performances by teachers from the center and we will close on Friday with a drumming and a snack courtesy of the Conservatory cafeteria.
